About the HEALTHY POULTRY research consortium

The project has three main groups of activities, each grouped in a specific task: Demographic and spatial aspects and GIS (Task A), Epidemiological analysis (Task B), and Risk analysis and epidemiological-economic modeling (Task C). Each Task is coordinated by a leading institute in this particular field: P2 (University of Vechta), P3 (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie) and P1 (Wageningen University) respectively. Besides being experts in their own field, a great advantage is their complementary to each other.

Within Task A, three partners are involved, each with their own specific expertise: P2 (University of Vechta, demographic and spatial analysis and GIS), P5 (Agricultural Economic Research Institute, farm and welfare economics of livestock production) and P7 (Istituto Nazionale per la Fauna Selvatica, aspects related to wildlife and migratory birds).

Within Task B, two partners are involved: P3 (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie) and P4 (Utrecht University). Both are recognized specialists in the field of veterinary epidemiology, i.e. epidemiology of infectious poultry diseases. Including both allows analysis of the major data on AI within Europe (i.e. those from Italy and The Netherlands).

Within Task C, two partners are involved: P1 (Wageningen University) and P6 (Szent István University). P1 is a recognized expert in the fields of epidemiological-economic modeling of livestock diseases, welfare analysis and risk analysis. P6 has quite some experience in epizootic poultry diseases.
